Vladislav's BIOGRAPHY


Vladislav Kern is a Russian-American pianist, composer and poet. Vlad started playing piano at the very early age, with his grandmother being his first teacher. At the age of 6 he got accepted to Central Music School at the Moscow State P.I.Tchaikovsky Conservatory, where he studied with Professor V.V. Piasetsky. Few years later he became a scholarship recipient of the Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation. At the age of 12 Vlad moved to New York and continued his education at The Juilliard School of Music - Class of Professor Y. Kaplinsky. One year later he received the prestigious Van Cliburn scholarship, first time in the history of The Juilliard School, Pre-College Division. From 2016 to 2019 he was studying in Italy at Academia Pianistica Internazionale "Incontri col Maestro" di Imola - Class of Professor B. Petrushansky. Currently Vlad is studying at Manhattan School of Music with Professor A. Moutouzkine. Along his musical journey, Vlad took masterclasses and lessons from such musicians, as Solomon Mikowsky, T.A.Zelikman, Naum Shtarkman, K.A. Shashkina, Oleg Marshev, Antonio Mormone, Ian Hobson and Boaz Sharon.

Vlad performed in such world-known venues as David Geffen Hall & Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center (NYC), La Sala Verdi at the Conservatorio di Milano, Konserthuset Stockholm, Finlandia Hall (Helsinki), The Grand Hall of the St. Petersburg Academic Philharmonia (named after D.D. Shostakovich), The Grand Hall of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory. He collaborated with such musicians as Vladimir Spivakov, Leonard Slatkin, Roberto Minczuk, Sebastian Lang-Lessing, Jindong Cai, Giancarlo De Lorenzo, Michael Morgan. And has recordings on the radio and television in many countries, including Italy, the USA, Luxembourg, Sweden, Czech Republic and Russia.

In 2013 Vlad becomes a Young Steinway Artist. Since 2014 Vlad promotes improvisation in concerts of classical music and poetry. In 2020 he published his first poetry book in Russian and got a contract with EKSMO - the biggest publisher of Russian book market. In 2022 Vlad opened his own digital music production - "Beat 101 Beat". In 2025 he is planning to launch "Unity Arts" treaming service for artists of all genre. Vlad’s plans for next seasons include playing concerts in the US, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Germany, and Spain.

Vlad performed his first concert with an orchestra at the age of 6, playing Bach piano concerto in f minor with Cape Town philharmonic (Republic of South Africa) and with Symphony Orchestra of the Maimonides State Classical Academy (Moscow). At the age of 7 he performed Mozart fantasy in d minor at “Polytechnic Museum” and also at the festival of the “New Names” Foundation (Moscow). At the age of 8, he performed at the House of the government of the Russian Federation. When he was 9 years old, he was invited as a soloist to a solemn concert-celebration of Van Cliburn in Fort Worth, Texas, USA.

In 2009, he took part in 30's anniversary concert of "Moscow Virtuosi" with conductor Maestro Vladimir Spivakov at the Svetlanovsky hall of the Moscow International House of Music. Three month later, he gave his debut concert in New York. The concert was held at Lincoln Center, Alice Tully Hall. This same year he also performed at the Copenhagen Summer Festival (Denmark). And took part in a series of concerts organized by Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation in Moscow, Myshkin and Uglich. Performed in the festival “Moscow meets friends” at Chamber Hall and Theatre Hall of Moscow International House of Music; and also in Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre for first lady of Russian Federation Svetlana Medvedeva.

In the 2010-2011 season, Vladislav had an intensive concert schedule. He played with Yaroslavl Philharmonic Orchestra; gave his very successful debut recital in Milan, at the Verdi Conservatory, Sala Puccini (the recital was part of the prestigious Italian concert organisation "Societa dei concerti"); Performed in the program “Sati. Not Boring Classics” on the Russia Kultura TV Channel; The next two concerts Vladislav played was in Brno, Czech Republic, with Brno philharmonic orchestra. A month later, he played two recitals in Luxembourg - those two recitals were part of the piano series of "Bank of Luxembourg." In the summer of 2011, he gave solo recitals in California (in San Jose and Sacramento) and also at the prestigious festival of chamber music in La Jolla (USA).

In the 2012 season Vladislav played a solo concert upon special invitation and recommendation personally given by Van Cliburn at Christie's (NYC) auction on Van Cliburn's piano. Later that year, he gave a solo concert at the Juilliard School, Paul Recital Hall, Lincoln Center.

The beginning of 2013 Vladislav started with a series of concerts in North Italy (organized by prestigious Italian concert organisation "Societa dei concerti") including solo recitals in Milan and Cantu. In the Autumn of 2013 Vladislav played solo concerts in Denver, Colorado and in New York - he closed the final season at the one of the most famous and oldest concert halls in NYC - Steinway Hall.

In the beginning of 2014 Vladislav repeated his success for "Societa dei concerti" (the Italian concert organization) playing a solo recital in Milan (Auditorium Gaber). Spring of 2014 was full of success for the young musician - chamber concerts at the Juilliard School - Peter Jay Sharp Theatre, Paul Recital Hall and Morse Hall; Merkin Concert Hall at Kaufmann Music Center - In one evening Vladislav performed solo and accompanied cello and saxophone; three days later he debuted at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center with Moscow Virtuosi chamber orchestra under baton of Maestro Vladimir Spivakov - this concert was dedicated to the celebration of 35's anniversary of Moscow Virtuosi. Summer of 2014 - Vladislav was participating in the festival of A. Bruckner music Academy and master classes in Linz, Austria. In the end of 2014 he played a Solo Recital at Lincoln Center, The Juilliard School.

The 2015 season Vladislav started with performing solo and chamber music concerts at Paul Recital Hall, Morse Hall, Willson Theater (The Juilliard School). In the summer of 2015 Vladislav played solo recitals and chamber music concerts at the festivals in Fort Collins, Colorado and Bear Valley, California.

In the beginning of 2016 Vladislav played his Senior Recital at The Juilliard School, Paul Recital Hall. In the summer of 2016 he gave a concert in Fort Collins, Colorado on IKO&F at CSU. Vlad performed in a charity concert for “Aspiration Foundation” in Brno (Czech Republic) in the end of 2016.

In 2017 he played a concert together with his mother at the Virginia Arts Festival, USA, and in Sala Verdi, Verdi conservatory in Milan, Italy, performing Mozart double concerto with Sinfonica di Sanremo under baton of Giancarlo De Lorenzo. In the summer of 2017 Vladislav performed Beethoven concerto No. 5 ('Emperor') with Bear Valley festival orchestra under baton of Maestro Michael Morgan in Bear Valley, CA, USA.

In the 2018 Vladislav performed at the Sanibel music festival in Florida; had a recital in Brno (Czech Republic); Made a debut with New Mexico Philharmonic under baton of Maestro Roberto Minczuk at Popejoy Hall, University of New Mexico, Albuquerque and with San Antonio Symphony under baton of Maestro Sebastian Lang-Lessing at Tobin Center for the Performing Arts in San Antonio, Texas. He also made a debut for the Chamber Music Society of Detroit at Seligman Performing Arts Center, Detroit, Michigan.

The 2019 season Vladislav started with playing a solo recital in Milan, Auditorium Gaber. The next concert he played was in St. Louis (the USA), The Sheldon Concert Hall with Maestro Leonard Slatkin. In the summer of 2019 Vlad was on tour with the Golden State Youth Orchestra under baton of Maestro Jindong Cai, playing Tchaikovsky piano concerto N1 and Rachmaninoff rhapsody on the theme by Paganini - the tour went from California (the USA) to Stockholm (Sweden) to Helsinki (Finland) to St. Petersburg to Moscow (Russia), playing at the most prestigious concerts venues on every stop of the tour. Few weeks after the end of Tour Vlad went to play at the Bear Valley Summer Music Festival (Bear Valley, California, the USA), where he had a solo recital and also a performance together with his mother and Bear Valley festival orchestra under baton of Maestro Michael Morgan.

In the year 2020, right before the start of global public restrictions due to the COVID-19 crisis, Vladislav had a series of concerts in California and Colorado (the USA), including a concert in San Francisco - the Herbst Theater (organized by San Francisco Music Society). In autumn of 2020 Vladislav recorded a live concert for Le Salon de la Musique (online concerts streaming platform).

Vlad’s first public performances since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic took place on Summer music festivals in Puerto Rico and Virginia in June 2021. In September Vlad opened a concert season of Popejoy Hall (Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA) after its big break during the pandemic of Covid-19, performing Beethoven’s 2nd concerto with New Mexico Philharmonic under the baton of Maestro Roberto Minczuk.
